The short answer

A standby-generator project needs electrical load planning, a suitable location and verified fuel supply. BeeWarm is the Lower Mainland enquiry contact for gas-side assessment and scope; confirm the equipment and work Robert can support before purchasing.

Start with the equipment that must keep running

List essential circuits and equipment, starting loads and desired outage operation. Separate ordinary backup convenience from any regulated life-safety requirements. A qualified electrical designer and equipment supplier should establish the appropriate generator and transfer arrangement.

Gas demand is not electrical output

Bring the selected model’s fuel specifications, existing appliance list and a route sketch. The gas fitter must assess the meter, regulator, pressure and downstream piping together. Electrical kilowatts do not directly specify a pipe size. Ask about the actual measured route, including branches and vertical sections.

Review the property before ordering

Show possible locations, building openings, access, adjacent occupied spaces and property boundaries. For strata and commercial sites, identify ownership and approval responsibilities. The supplier and qualified project team must confirm manufacturer requirements, local approvals and the complete installation scope.

Our related resource, NaturalGasGenerators.ca, presents the Cat range with official product galleries and planning questions. Caterpillar announced that family in February 2023; the article is an evergreen guide, not a claim of a new 2026 launch. Confirm current Canadian availability and the exact specification with a dealer.

Prepare for your assessment

  • Critical loads and property use
  • Proposed generator fuel specification
  • Existing gas appliances and route sketch
  • Site plan and strata or owner approvals

Common questions

Can I choose gas-pipe size from generator kW?

No. The gas assessment uses the manufacturer’s fuel requirements, pressure, route and other connected loads.

Does BeeWarm provide every part of an installation?

Confirm Robert’s scope directly. Electrical, equipment, civil and design work may need separate qualified providers.
